We are on the road…German style! It looks like a hot-mess, but I swear it is a good plan:
Actually, it is just a ploy by me to prevent Joe from getting any R&R before classes start again! We will be arriving back home in Freiburg just in time to drop him off at his first Vorlesung of the new semester. Just kidding. He can sleep in his own bed really quickly, then head to class. Fingers crossed it all goes according to plan!
I missed our favorite event in Freiburg this summer, the Weinfest, because I was too busy flitting around the Pacific. To make up for it, our first stop on the road trip was Neustadt an der Weinstraβe to enjoy some local wine-festing! I mean, how cool is it that the town actually has “on the Wine Road” in its name?! I mean, how cool is it that this country actually has an official, 85km/52mile long, “Weinstraβe” (Wine Road)?! Man, I love Germany.
This is a pretty common saying in German. It reads: As soon as it’s empty, this drinking vessel no longer makes proper joy.
This is what it looks like when some people have a little more “joy” in their drinking vessels than others!
Zum Wohl! To a great German road trip!
